Hollywood Smile: who is it right for, and who is it not?
E-max veneers do not suit every mouth. Enamel thickness, the dentist's price, the state of things after an old silver filling — the full checklist.
Medically reviewed by Op. Dr. Elvin Əliyev.
Over the past 5 years the Hollywood Smile has become one of the most popular aesthetic dental procedures in Azerbaijan. It is not, however, the right choice for everyone.
What is a Hollywood Smile?
E-max (lithium disilicate) or zirconium veneers are bonded onto the tooth to give it an ideal shape, colour and size. The typical procedure:
- Examination and imaging
- Minimal reduction of the teeth (0.3-0.5 mm)
- Temporary veneers (1 week)
- Bonding of the permanent veneers
Who is it suitable for?
- Ideal candidates:
- Healthy gums
- Teeth naturally crooked but with a healthy root
- Good bite strength (no night-time clenching)
- An aesthetic concern, not a functional problem
Who is it NOT for?
- Those who should hold back:
- Active periodontitis (gum disease)
- Bruxism (night-time clenching) — the veneers break
- Too little enamel (root restoration comes first)
- An old silver filling that has not been replaced
Price dynamics
The price varies widely depending on the material chosen (E-max or zirconium), the number of teeth and the clinic. The exact amount can only be found out at a consultation, after an individual assessment.
Recommendation
At the consultation, ask the dentist to:
- Measure the enamel thickness (panoramic X-ray)
- Check the condition of the gums
- Show you the result on a 3D model
